Special Session on: Reliability and Safety of Complex Systems
Complex systems, onshore and offshore, have been rapidly developing in recent years as a consequence of the vigorous promotion of new technologies and ever-increasing investment in offshore engineering. Reliability and safety investigations are essential to such systems, especially as they become more complex and are subject to unpredictable conditions. These aspects rely heavily on the support of new measurement technologies for operational data extraction and analysis, which can be challenging: (i) Uncertain measurement data resulting from uncertain environment introduce additional difficulties to data collection and analysis; (ii) Complex failure mechanisms complicate failure identification and prevention, as well as reliability modeling and analysis; (iii) Low accessibility, such as offshore systems, brings limitations to the availability of maintenance process data and models. This Special Session aims to present original research and novel applications in the scope of reliability and safety of complex systems and their affiliated equipment. Submissions dealing with the following topics are especially welcomed but not limited to:
New design concepts of health monitoring
Reliability, risk, and failure analysis models
Modeling and analyzing structures' health state based on the measured real-world data
AI-enhanced fault detection, diagnosis, prognosis, and predictive maintenance
Availability and maintenance planning of low accessibility systems
The paper presented in the Special Session are very welcomed to submit an extended version to the special issue on Measurement-Technologies-Enhanced Reliability and Safety of Offshore Systems at Measurement Science and Technology Journal (https://iopscience.iop.org/collections/mst-240307-494) and ENG Transactions (https://www.engtransactions.com/).
